Transforming Waste to Fuel A Feasability Study Written by Michael Wolford Environmental Training Specialist US Army Engineer School Directorate of Environmental Integration PH: 573-329-1927 03/22/2007 This study comes to a very startling conclusion that approximately 75% of US oil requirements could be met from conversion of waste material to liquid fuels. See page 15 of the study. My opinion is that maybe 30% as follows 10% Municipal Solid Waste (MSW) 10% Ag Waste 10% Forest waste + other If anyone has any additional information please contact me. Either way Waste to Fuel is an important technology and should be deployed ASAP. The only operating full scale plant is the CWT plant in Carthage. My information says the oil costs about $80 / bbl because CWT must pay Con Ag for the feed stock. It seems that waste to fuel can be done for $20 to $40 / bbl assuming waste is zero cost delivered to a plant.
